Newsletter May 2013

Welcome to the second edition of Forgiven Ministries, Inc. Newsletter— “Brotherly Love Notes!”

Dear Friends,

Forgiven Ministries just knew that you would want to hear about how God has been at work, bringing His light of, forgiveness, and new life inside one of the darkest places on earth – a maximum security prison. During February 16-20 Forgiven Ministries was honored to partner with the Kairos Prison Ministries weekend (K-24) held inside Lake Erie Correctional Institution near Conneaut Ohio. This was an incredible experience where the Holy Spirit tore down walls that had been built around broken hearts. Our Lord healed many of those broken hearts and breathed new life into damaged souls. I encourage you to listen how some of the inmates described their experience:

How I came…
I came dead, aching for spiritual growth. I came with a broken heart and lost relationships. I’ve been broken by man since 1999. I came with a pitchfork. I knew the church, but I was like a balloon filled with hot air – taking up space but nothing inside.

What I found…
Love and forgiveness. I found restoration. New life in Christ. Jesus Christ in my new family. I saw angels. I cried and hugged, cried and hugged – which you never do in prison.

As former inmates ourselves, and Walter a Kairos Team member, we know how important it is that Participants come heart-to-heart with the Body of Christ. Over the course of the three days, they began to realize that the Body of Christ is a very real thing and not just some theological, religious imagery. The Holy Spirit used the family of God who contributed of their God-given resources to this Kairos weekend as the instrument to open their eyes to His unconditional love.

We were so blessed to have seen how people, on behalf of Christ, sent their gifts of prayer, financial support, cookies, posters, placemats, and letters. Their sacrifices were every bit as important as the Team members who lovingly ushered a new soul into the Kingdom of God on that weekend. Their actions were truly fruit being produced on behalf of our God!

Please join us in singing praises to God for how His family sacrifices their own interests so they can “do it unto the least of these” (Matthew 25: 45). We are so grateful for your interest in the ministry to the prisoner.

The Scriptures exhort us in Hebrews 13:3 - “Remember the prisoners as if chained with them – those who are mistreated – since you yourselves are in the body also.”

We are reaching out to you today asking if have a stirring in your heart towards those who have been incarcerated, would you consider going a little deeper into God’s plans for this ministry and contacting us as to how you might be able to help. Walter & Lillian can be reached at (814) 451-0479 or you can mail checks/donations to: Forgiven Ministries, 1112 Raspberry Street, Erie, Pa 16502. Thank you so much.
