Newsletter October 2012

Welcome to the first edition of Forgiven Ministries Inc. Newsletter— “Brotherly Love Notes!” This newsletter is one more step we
take on this journey that began two years ago, at our Lord's prompting, trusting Him to guide and direct all the way!

Forgiven is in the process of becoming 501(c)3 status. It is a Pennsylvania incorporated non-profit Christian organization, created to
provide encouragement, a safe environment and practical assistance to individuals who are at-risk or currently or formerly incarcerated. Forgiven believes, because of God's redeeming power through Jesus Christ, that there is potential and power available for individuals to change and that those who have been incarcerated possess unique gifts and talents, and can become selfsufficient, contributors to society.

Our goals are two-fold: first, to provide up to 18 months of temporary housing in a safe and family-style residential facility; secondly, to oversee mandatory programs such as drug and alcohol counseling, GED preparation, job-training, as well as programs for spiritual and personal development, addressing all dimensions of the individual. We place as much emphasis on the inner man as the outer, the concept of forgiveness of self and others, the ability to become a new creation and have a new start in life.

Walter committed a terrible crime back in 1987. As a result, the State of Pennsylvania sentenced him 2 natural life sentences. He accepted Jesus Christ as His personal Lord and Savior in 1988. Once he accepted Jesus into his life, God gave him eternal life and He eventually took the 2 naturals away. Walter is a walking miracle because he is now on the outside testifying of just how much God has changed his life. By God’s grace and mercy, he is no longer that same person he was, but is a new creature in Christ, old things are passed away and behold all things are new for him. Praise God!

Lillian too has her own testimony about what God has done in her life. She too like her husband committed a terrible crime, but after she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord in 2002, her life was transformed. Her goal now is to be the hands and feet of Jesus by helping people make something out of their broken life and fulfill Gods purpose.

Current Activities
We have been working on Forgiven Ministries Inc. for 2 years and are currently facilitating “Hungry Hearts Bible Study” class for parolees and ex-offenders looking to God's Word for the answers to many of life's questions. This class is ongoing, every other month on the first Thursday of the month from 5:30 to 6:30pm. Classes are held at Grace Fellowship International Church 123 West 10th St. While we continue to fine tune our program model, we are actively looking into purchasing a facility for the residential home.

Our Question to You –
The Scriptures exhort us in Hebrews 13:3 - “Remember the prisoners as if chained with them – those who are mistreated – since you
yourselves are in the body also.”
We are looking for financial support, service providers/teachers or counselors, partner referrals, and prayer partners for the
following areas and services:
   Personal Development/self-esteem sessions;
   Vocational Development/G.E.D. Preparation;
   Spiritual Development;
   Interpersonal skill Development;
   Emotional and Relational Skills;
   Marriage Enrichment Session;
   Parenting Skills Sessions;
   Financial Literacy;
   Basic Computer Skills;
   Simple Home Repair Skills;
   Basic Home Care Skills

Our goal is to raise revenue to cover expenses in order to provide this ministry with as little federal funding as possible so that we
might have the freedom to teach and use the Word of God in as many applications as possible.

We are reaching out to you today asking that since you already have a stirring in your heart towards those who have been
incarcerated, would you consider going a little deeper into God’s plans for this ministry and contacting us as to how you might be
able to help? Walter & Lillian can be reached at (814) 451-0479 or you can mail checks/donations to: Forgiven Ministries, 1112
Raspberry Street, Erie, Pa 16502.

Thank you so much.
